Celebrating our learning – week ending 24th February

Another busy week in the Squirrel Class!

The children have had some fascinating discussions about clay this week with Mrs Goodman. There were lots of ideas about where it comes from and what it is made of. The children have been exploring its qualities and have been poking, squashing, squeezing and rolling it.

It has been lovely to hear the children using some mathematical vocabulary when discussing weight – words such as light, lighter, lightest, heavy, heavier and heaviest have been used to describe the balance scales and its contents. We were most surprised to discover that our fish puppet weighs the same as a duplo figure!

Phonics, reading and writing continue to be huge focus in class. We had a good go at writing about where we went in the holidays and what we think keeps us healthy. Some of our healthy living writing is on display in the snack area so please come and look.
