Reading at home

Remember – all children should be reading at least 5 times a week at home with an adult. You don’t need to read a whole school reading book in one sitting – it’s tiring decoding words when you first start to learn to read! Break it into chunks, maybe even reading only 2 pages at a time.

Reading should be a pleasurable experience and we are trying to instill a love of reading in all our children. Alongside your child practising their reading skills, remember that nothing beats a cuddle whilst you’re reading them a favourite story.

Should you want any tips or advise for reading at home, please ask.
