I can write a shopping list 


30-50 L Sometimes gives meaning to the marks that they paint or draw

30-50 CL Listens to others one to one or in small groups, when conversation interests them.

40-60 CL Uses talk to organise, sequence and clarify thinking, ideas, feelings and events.

40-60 L Writes own name and other things such as labels, captions.

40-60 L Uses some clearly identifiable letters to communicate meaning, representing some sounds correctly and in sequence.

ELG L Children use their phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds.

How can you help at home?

  • Write a shopping list then use it to go shopping
  • Write lists for things to do, birthday presents, party invites etc.

Key vocabulary: Shopping, list, remember, difficult, writing, help, phonics.

I can hear  sounds that sound like the word  (buzz, bang etc)


30-50 CL Listens to stories with increasing attention and recall.

40-60 CL Extends vocabulary, especially by grouping and naming, exploring the meaning and sounds of new words.

40-60 CL Two-channelled attention – can listen and do for short span.

ELG CL Children listen attentively in a range of situations.

How can you help at home?

  • Go on a listening walk
  • Think of onomatopoeic words
  • Water play, listen to and describe the onomatopoeic words you can hear

How can you help at home?

  • Practice throwing and catching
  • Use different size and shaped balls

  • Explore books on space
  • Create your own solar system
  • Build space craft using junk modelling
