What are we learning w/c 18th January

I can pat and bounce a ball with control.

Purpose:

30-50 PD Can catch a large ball.

40-60 PD Shows understanding of how to transport and store equipment safely.

40-60 PD Shows increasing control over an object in pushing, patting, throwing, catching or kicking it.

ELG- PD Children know the importance for good health of physical exercise, and a healthy diet, and talk about ways to keep healthy and safe.

How can you help at home?

  • Play ball games
  • Practice bouncing and patting balls
Key vocabulary: Pat, bounce, control, ball, warm up, care

I can create a variety of different textures on a clay fish

Purpose:

30-50 EAD Beginning to be interested in and describe the texture of things.

30-50 EAD Realises tools can be used for a purpose.

40-60 EAD Experiments to create different textures.

40-60 PD Uses simple tools to effect changes to materials.

40- 60 PD Handles tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control.

ELG EAD They safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function.

 

How can you help at home?

  • Talk about the texture of everyday objects
  • Go on a texture hunt inside or outside

Create textures using different materials (mud, sand, paint, fabric etc)

Key vocabulary: Clay, fish, texture, smooth, rough, spiky, wavy, soft, hard

 

I can talk about how the rainbow fish resolved his problem

Purpose:

30-50 PSED Aware of own feelings, and knows that some actions and words can hurt others’ feelings.

30-50 PSED Begins to accept the needs of others and can take turns and share resources, sometimes with support from others.

40-60 PSED Beginning to be able to negotiate and solve problems without aggression, e.g. when someone has taken their toy.

40-60 PSED Takes steps to resolve conflicts with other children, e.g. finding a compromise.

ELG PSED They show sensitivity to others’ needs and feelings, and form positive relationships with adults and other children.

 

How can you help at home?

  • Play sharing games talking about turn taking and sharing fairly
  • Role play problems working on answers and resolving issues

Key vocabulary: Resolve, conflict, share, happy, cross, angry, rainbow fish, other fish, friends

I can make a silly sentence

Purpose:

30-50 L Knows that print carries meaning and, in English, is read from left to right and top to bottom

30-50 L Knows information can be relayed in the form of print

40-60 L Can segment the sounds in simple words and blend them together and knows which letters represent some of them.

40-60 L Begins to read words and simple sentences

ELG – L Children read and understand simple sentences.

ELG- L They use phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately

How can you help at home?

  • Draw pictures to make silly sentences at home
  • Write simple words including noun, verb and adjective. Select one of each to make a silly sentence
