This weeks learning for w/c 2nd November

I can name 2-D (3-D) shapes and some of their properties

Purpose:

30-50 M Shows an interest in shape and space  by playing with shapes or making arrangements with objects

30-50 M Shows interest in shape by sustained construction activity by talking about shapes or arrangements

40-60 M Beginning to use mathematical names for solid 3D shapes and flat 2D shapes, and mathematical terms to describe shapes

40-60 Selects a particular named shape

How can you help at home?

·         Find shapes in the environment

·         Count the corners and sides of shapes. Look at the differences between them

·         Go on a Shape Hunt around the house

Key vocabulary: s Rectangle, square, triangle, circle, corner, sides
I can manipulate materials to achieve a planned effect

Purpose:

30-50 L Sometimes gives meaning to marks as they draw and paint.

30-50 EAD Explores colours and how they can be changed

40-60 EAD Explores what happens when they mix colours

40-60 EAD Manipulates materials to achieve a planned effect

How can you help at home?

·         Make art outside using different media and materials

·         Use different objects to make marks with – spray bottles, toothbrushes, sponges etc

Key vocabulary: Paint, finger, dip, dab, drag, firework, create

I can talk about how to be safe on Bonfire Night

Purpose:

30-50 L Sometimes gives meaning to the marks that they paint or draw

30-50 L Knows information can be relayed in the form of print

40-60 L Gives meaning to marks they make as they draw, write and paint

40-60 L Uses some clearly identifiable letters to communicate meaning, representing some sounds correctly and in sequence

 
How can you help at home?

·         Before attending a Fireworks display either at home or an organised display talk about how to stay safe

Key vocabulary: Poster, writing, information, safety, eye-catching
I can play different instruments correctly Purpose:

30-50 EAD Explores and learns how sounds can be changed

40-60 EAD Explores the different sounds of instruments

How can you help at home?

·         Explore different objects to make music with

·         Play quietly and loudly – how can you do this?

·         Make one person the conductor and create gestures to play loudly and softly

Key vocabulary: Percussion instruments, music, accompany, sound, long, short
