Chopping fruit to make smoothies
30-50 PD Understands that equipment and tools have to be used safely. Uses one-handed tools and equipment, e.g. makes snips in paper with child scissors.
40-60 PD Eats a healthy range of foodstuffs and understands need for variety in food. Handles tools, objects, construction and malleable materials safely and with increasing control.

How can you help at home?
• Try different fruits and vegetables
• Allow your child to help with preparing the evening meal
• Talk about what food is healthy an unhealthy

Listening to music, how does it make us feel?
30-50 C&L Focusing attention – still listen or do, but can shift own attention.
PSED Aware of own feelings, and knows that some actions and words can hurt others’ feelings.
40-60 C&L Maintains attention, concentrates and sits quietly during appropriate activity.
PSED Confident to speak to others about own needs, wants, interests and opinions.

• Share your favourite music
• Ask them how the music makes them feel
• Make music together using everyday objects

Celebrations and festivals
30-50 UW Recognises and describes special times or events for family or friends.
40-60 UW Enjoys joining in with family customs and routines.

How can you help at home?
• Look through photos of important times in their life
• Ask them what they are looking forward to celebrating
• Share stories about different celebrations

Stopping, starting and different way of moving in PE
30-50 PD Moves freely and with pleasure and confidence in a range of ways, such as slithering, shuffling, rolling, crawling, walking, running, jumping, skipping, sliding and hopping.
40-60 PD Experiments with different ways of moving

How can you help at home?
• Move in different way around the house and garden
• Play games where you have to stop and start
• Encourage your child to dress and undress themselves
